Our Mastering the Shoulder SPECIALTY course completes the MTS series. This course is for all practitioners wanting to learn integrated upper quadrant rehabilitation including a comprehensive cervical exercise program and offering many specialty topics of the shoulder.
Specific therapeutic exercise progressions will be taught for the cervical spine along with specialty topics involving neurovascular, sports specific and post surgical shoulder disorders. Several intergrated case studies are a feature of this course to help combine information from all three courses.
Mastering the Shoulder SPECIALTY covers manual therapy, cervical spine management and expert shoulder topics:
- Manual therapy techniques for the upper quadrant - what works and what might cause injury.
- Integrated cervical spine rehabilitation - initial movements to high level conditioning.
- Shoulder surgery updates - complications, challenges and new outcomes.
- Neurovascular disorders of the shoulder - red flags, symptoms and current management.
- Clavicle fractures, acromioclavicular and sternoclavicular injury - your role in management and treatment.
- Sports specific Injuries - paddle sports, racquet sports, throwing, combat, rock climbing and more...
- Surgical protocols - the good, the bad and the ugly - how should we be improving patient outcomes?
Indepth practical sessions, challenging Integrated Case Studies (III-V) and some special extras!
Specialty certification will be made available after the completion of this course.

- Specialty Orthopedic Practice - build a treatment progression for a complex upper quadrant disorder requiring repeat examinations along with a mixture of cervical and shoulder treatment while managing patient expectations prior to full recovery
Clavicle injuries, SC and AC joint disorders
- Build your knowledge for the current management of clavicle fractures and rehabilitation needs
- Learn current examination techniques for the SC and AC joints, types of pathology and necessary management techniques
- Case history examples will be used to highlight various disorders of the SC and AC joints and problem solving these conditions for best recovery
Cervical Stability Training Part II
- Further refinements to cervical stability training including some strength and conditioning methods
- Integrate scapula movements into your cervical stability training for greater control over the upper quadrant recovery
- Understand the full program of cervical stability training, exercise prescription and modifications required for some patients
Athletic Shoulder Injuries
- Learn the common injuries to look for and common biomechanical errors for many sports related shoulder problems - throwing athletes, climbing athletes, racquet sports, combat sports, paddling and water sports, 'corporate' sports
- Appreciate the similarities across multiple sports for offering advice and exercises for the prevention of these shoulder injuries
- Identify common exercise training faults for generating shoulder injuries in the gym
Post Surgical Shoulder Protocols
- Review key post surgical protocols currently in use and identify specific concerns and solutions for improving patient outcomes
